My Makeover Winner!!!!

Brittany was my very FIRST makeover winner! I've been slacking with pictures lately but I truly had a wonderful time doing her makeup! She gave me such a beautiful canvas to work with so, there was NO way she was going to look bad. Thanks Brittany for participating, hope you loved it! xo

Holiday Manicure

I have to say I am totally obsessed with my holiday nails!! I have a Santa belt on the pinky, sliver glitter on my ring finger, snowflakes on the middle finger, and red with red glitter on my pointer and thumb nails (in case anyone is wondering "what the heck is that?!"). I cut my nails from the long stiletto back to short and square and I'm not gonna lie, I'm having withdrawls. Long stiletto nails are on their way back, I swear! What do you guys think?

My "Halloween" Look

My beautiful 4 year old niece was Ariel from The Little Mermaid this year. Before I went to 'Trunk Or Treat" at her daycare I got inspired by her BEYOND cute costume. So, I decided to do a wearable Little Mermaid inspired look. Halloween is not my thing, I know, BORING! I promise to do something better next year. Anyway, here is a sneak peek of my look until I upload the rest of my pictures! xo

Fall Nails

This fall I FINALLY decided to have FUN with my nails and forego my usual french manicure. The top picture is what I did in October and the bottom is what I did for November. I have to say that I'm IN LOVE with the "stiletto nail" now. I used to think that round or pointy nails were gross and now I'm hooked!! What does everyone think?

Everyone loves a good before & after...a special thank you to my beautiful client Megan for letting me take all of these pictures xo

It's Primer Time!!!

Ever Wonder How To Keep Your Makeup On Your Face All Day?

Everyone is always asking me how I get my makeup to stay on (all day) perfectly so, I figured I would share my secret with everyone…*drum-roll please*…PRIMER!! I wear a foundation primer as well as an eyelid primer every single time I wear makeup! I really think it’s pointless to go through all the effort of putting on makeup if your skin is not properly prepped. FYI Apply foundation primer after moisturizing and BEFORE any makeup application.
Currently, my favorite foundation primer is Benefit’s “POREfessional Primer.” It’s oil free and actually helps reduce the appearance of pores and fine wrinkles. It makes your skin feel silky smooth and actually helps maintain a matte finish to your skin throughout the day. Most importantly, it helps keep your makeup in place ALL DAY LONG! ($30.00)
My second favorite foundation primer is Smashbox’s “Photo Finish Light Primer” (aka the white bottle). This actually used to be my favorite primer of all time. But then I discovered Benefit’s primer which is about $6.00 less in price. I really can’t say one bad thing about this primer at all! I think that it offers a little less coverage to pores because the primer is translucent whereas Benefit’s primer is beige in color. Just like Benefit’s primer Photo Finish Light helps maintain a matte finish to your skin. ($36.00)

As far as eyelid primers go there is only one primer, in my opinion, that matters and it's Urban Decay’s “Primer Potion”in the original formula (aka the purple tube). This is hands down a makeup MUST HAVE!! Don’t even waste your time with eye shadow if you are not priming your lids with this first. You will NEVER have eyeshadow creasing on your lids again! I cannot stress enough what a wonderful product this truly is. It holds your shadow in place and prevents eyelids from getting greasy (which is what leads to creasing). This product also provides an amazing base to your eyeshadow to allow you to get the most saturated color out of your shadow application. The original primer is relatively translucent once applied. Urban Decay also sells three other formulas; a more opaque primer called “Eden," a metallic primer with gold undertones called “Greed,” and a metallic primer with pink undertones called “Sin.” No matter what look you are trying to achieve with your shadow, they have something for everyone! You can even use the metallic primers as eye shadow on their own, that’s how pretty they are!

  • Here’s an important tip for eyelid primer application: Make sure to apply primer to your eyelids as well as the area on your lower eyelid too (under lower eyelashes)! You want to have surrounded your entire eye with primer that way any place you decide to apply shadow it will stay in place. FYI I always apply eyelid primer after all foundation, concealer, and powders are applied. Obviously, apply primer BEFORE eyeshadow. ($20.00)

I can’t tell you how many people assume (since I’m a makeup junkie) that I always carry makeup on me. I always get asked if I have a bronzer, powder, blush or mascara to borrow, and the truth is I NEVER carry ANY makeup with me (well, besides lip stuff) nor do I ever reapply. I do my makeup early in the morning and it lasts me my entire work day and even through a night out (which includes dancing and sweating, TMI, I know). The most I will do is gently blot my face to absorb any shine, but that is it! I truly believe that I have my primers to thank for this!

I hope this helps anyone who has ever felt that their makeup slides off their face halfway through the day!(Questions and comments are always appreciated!)

My Tips on How to Start Wearing Makeup

9/16/2013

If you want to start wearing makeup but don’t know where to begin, here are my tips:

 1. Start simple. Wearing foundation every single day is not necessary. I suggest applying concealer under your eyes, on your eyelid, and any blemishes or uneven skin. You can use your finger, a concealer brush, or a sponge/beauty blender, whichever you prefer. Don’t apply it too heavily; you want to blend it well ...so you can achieve a natural look. (My favorite is MAC Prolongwear concealer)

 2. Apply (a full coverage) powder, or any powder of your choice, all over your face to even out your skin without clogging your pores. All you need for this is a big fluffy brush. (My favorite is MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation)

 3. Apply your favorite blush to the apples of your cheeks. I think so many girls skip blush and it’s a huge mistake. It helps shape your face and adds such a feminine touch to your look.
These three products will change your look completely. I guarantee you will look younger and well rested instantly! Whether you use drugstore brands or more expensive products you will definitely see a major difference.

So many women skip face makeup and only wear mascara and/or eyeliner. I personally think face makeup is more important. (Obviously you can then add mascara and eyeliner once you are done with your face makeup). Hope this helps!

How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

9/13/2013

This is a typical Friday night for me...
How I wash my makeup brushes:

I use shampoo (some people say to use baby shampoo but I find it doesn't get the makeup out as well) I also use a spa glove from Sigma: www.sigmabeauty.com always wash your brushes holding the handle in the air with the brush hairs facing down so water doesn't get in the metal shaft of your brush (that's what ruins them and makes them come loose). All of my brushes are from Sigma and a handful I own are from MAC so it is very important for me to take care of my brushes. They are an amazing investment and if you care for them properly they will last you forever!

My New Favorite Blush

9/12/2013

I wanted to share a new beautiful blush I just purchased with you all. It's NARS's "Deep Throat" and I think it's something every girl needs in their collection (no pun intended). It is such a perfect color, not too pink, not too peach, just right! Blush is definitely one of my favorite makeup items, and I highly recommend this color as a collection must. What are your thoughts?
