Transformation Thursday

Here are my two most recent "Transformation Thursdays"

My goal with these transformations is to actually "transform" people. I do not think that all of these looks are necessarily for "everyday" (unless you're insane like me). I take the opportunity during these transformations to try something new (in regard to makeup technique) and sometimes actually try new makeup products. TO VISIT MY FACEBOOK PAGE & SEE MORE PICS CLICK HERE!

(FYI: MORE TRANSFORMATION THURSDAY PICS ARE ON MY POST FROM 5/15/2013 SCROLL DOWN)

6/27/2013: Donna

Donna has beautiful green eyes so I didn't want to do anything that would really compete with her natural beauty. I also thought she was a perfect client to display a more "natural" or "every day" look for her transformation.

6/20/2013: Cristie
Cristie almost never wears any color when it comes to shadow so I knew I wanted to do something different with her. I also wanted to do something dramatic and smoky since I never get to see her with a look like that. MAC's "Bare My Soul" from their Temperature Rising Collection was the PERFECT fit! Green is a perfect color to give some drama but also compliment her natural complexion. With each transformation I get more creative and I also become more proud of my work. TO VISIT MY FACEBOOK PAGE & SEE MORE PICS CLICK HERE!

Hope you love my looks!

Prom Makeup

Here is a look at the prom makeup I did last week...

My client wanted to look different and have a "wow" look for her prom day. We actually did a trial to make sure she would have the look she wanted for her big day. 90% of the makeup used in this look are from Urban Decay's Naked & Naked 2 Pallet. What do you guys think?

True or False?

My True or False lashes are FINALLY HERE!!! I really am SO excited to finally try these out and see what all the fuss is about. I mean, for $1.50 (per pair) you really can't go wrong! The packaging is so cute and the names of the lashes are unique which just makes it all more fun.

I do have to admit that I am quite annoyed with True or False as a company at the moment. I ordered my lashes on 5/15/2013 and did not receive my lashes until 6/11/2013. Isn't that a little ridiculous?! Once the first 12 days passed I decided to send an e-mail to the company (since that is your only option, as there is no phone number). NO RESPONSE. I send another e-mail to the 2 contacts I was able to find on their website. NO RESPONSE. I did this two more times, NO RESPONSE. I even tried leaving comments on their Instagram  pictures (follow me: @looksbyluann). NO RESPONSE. COMMENTS DELETED. I WAS BLOCKED. Needless to say I was upset, I tried everything and figured I was going to have to take the loss on the lashes.

Of course I then decided to "track my order" only to find out from the USPS that the e-mail True or False sent me with a tracking number is only to "track" the fact that T or F have announced to the USPS that they will be sending a package, it did not actually track my package or ever scan it into their system. Once the USPS informed me of this (last week) I was super annoyed, I figured there was no way I was going to be able to find this package.

Well, yesterday I came home to a little package that made me smile in a BIG way. The lashes look just as amazing in person as they do online and I really am so excited to use them. Hopefully I am so happy with the way they look on me that I will forget all about how annoyed I am. I will post pictures and a little review once I officially try them.

My opinion so far: Lashes are AMAZING, my favorite so far being their "Cat Eye" lash, (as long as you are not in a rush). Company has ZERO customer service (boooo).

Anyway, give them a try and let me know what you think: True or False Lashes

Today I decided to go with light shadow, a moderate winged liner and a coral lip. What I love about this look is that it transitions seamlessly from day to night. It doesn't look like I'm wearing a lot of makeup yet, it makes me look made up enough that I can go out anywhere straight from work!

MAC Handwritten, ES (crease)

Candy Yum-Yum!

The summer is finally here and what better time than now to rock a bright pink lip?! This was my first day wearing my NEW Candy Yum-Yum lipstick from MAC and I'm OBSESSED!!! It's a matte lipstick that looks amazing alone and even more sassy with some gloss on top. In this picture I used MAC's "Magenta" lipliner, "Candy Yum-Yum" lipstick, and MAC's "Rags to Riches" dazzleglass lipgloss. It is hard to take a photo that truly depicts how awesome this color is so I really urge my "Lookers" to head to their local MAC counter and try it for themselves!

How To: Do The Dew

What you need for this look:
  • Foundation
  • BeautyBlender (can be found at Sephora online or select Sephora stores)
  • Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer or any other highlighter (i.e. MAC’s “Whisper of Gilt,” Benefit’s “Watt’s Up” or “Hign Beam”)
  • Fix+ Spray by MAC (Urban Decay’s “All Nighter” or “Dew Me” sprays will also work)

Instructions (make sure your face has been properly washed and moisturized my favorite skin care products can be found here):
  1. Once you have applied all of your eye makeup and concealer, apply your foundation of choice using your beauty blender. (I currently use MAC Studio Fix) For those who are not familiar with how to use a beauty blender here are some tips:Bounce Beautyblender against your face when applying make up. Bouncing, called stippling in the make up world, blends make up without creating changes in the texture or tone of your skin. Use Beautyblender's pointed side for hard-to-reach spots like around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes. Use the round base for foundation and blush on the larger areas of your face such as your forehead, cheeks and chin. Use Beautyblender damp when applying wet/dry make up. When Beautyblender is wet it is normal for it to expand to nearly twice its original size. Wash after use and place in the Beautyblender insert pedestal to dry. If you have problem skin Beautyblender works to cover blemishes. Use the pointed end and the stipple and twist technique to work make up into depressed areas of the face. The stippling and twisting action feathers out the make up's edges, leaving a perfect finish.” – BeautyBlender.net
  2. Apply blush of your choice
  3. Apply Josie Maran’s Illuminizer in a “C” shape from the side of your eye to the top of your cheekbone. Basically, from your temple to the top of your cheekbone, slightly overlapping your blush application. You can do this by applying small dots of the illuminizer along that “C” shape and then bouncing your beautyblender on top to blend everything together. Or, you can apply this with a dual-fiber brush tracing a “C” shape onto the indicated area and then blending it out with the beautyblender. Do not apply too much; you just want that “C” to shine at certain angles. You do NOT want to look like you have a giant frosted “C” written on the side of your face.
  4. Spray MAC’s Fix+ spray (holding bottle about 10-12” away) all over your face. Do not spray too much; you don’t want the spray to create runny streaks all over. Either let it dry naturally or put the blow dryer on your face (cool air setting) once you are done.

Voila you are all done! Now take some pictures and show off all of your hard work!
